(formerly Polaroid Laser Diode Division) was a high-power laser diode manufacturer headquartered in Norwood, Massachusetts, founded January 2000 after acquiring Polaroid Corporation's Laser Diode Division. Developed and manufactured high-brightness, high-power diode laser systems. Products: high-power single emitter laser diodes at 808nm, 840nm, 915nm, 975nm, and 1550nm wavelengths; diodes providing 20mW optical power per micron of aperture width (twice industry standard at launch). Original applications: laser printing, medical imaging, industrial laser systems, telecommunications. Polaroid had originally developed the diode laser technology in 1986 for its medical imager.
